How to Install a Fireplace Insert and Liner in a Brick Chimney
Installing a wood burning fireplace insert requires a permit from your local building authority. and in some locales requires a WETT QUALIFIED installer. Many insurance companies are now requiring WETT inspections to be done by a certified WETT inspector on new and existing installations. Check your local building authority and your insurance as to the requirements. Inserts must be installed into fireplaces and chimneys that are in good condition, installing an EPA rated unit will give you good heat value and stop old drafting fireplaces from exhausting expensive heated air through stack effect even when their leaky dampers are closed. Napoleon GDI-44 DV gas fireplace insert – One of the largest glass viewing areas on any gas insert on the market today. It’s also one of the very best furnace rated heater as well, with 44000 btus and high efficiency. The glass size is 36″ wide and 19″ high. This makes it about the same size as most open fireplaces found. The unit will sit about 5 inches out on the hearth which allows for it’s unique design of expanding the glass area out onto the hearth. It’s a real winner.
